For more than seventeen centuries, the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has carried the faith handed to her by the apostles. Beneath the protection of Saint John the Baptist — the forerunner of Christ, the voice in the wilderness — our parish gathers as a Mount of Peace in the diaspora.
We worship the Holy Trinity in the language of our fathers and the silence of our hearts. Diaspora and visitor, elder and child, all are welcome at the gates of the sanctuary.
The Anaphora of the Apostles, sung in Ge'ez and Amharic. The ancient prayers of Saint Hippolytus, rendered in the chant of our fathers.
The sacrament of new birth — entrance into the Body of Christ through water and the Holy Spirit, for infants and adult catechumens alike.
The sacramental union of a man and a woman before God and the church, including the crowning rite and the shared cup of blessing.
We are a parish of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Marysville, Washington — a Mount of Peace for the diaspora and a refuge for any soul who comes seeking the living God.
